“For our wedding our guests came from all over the
world – the States, London, Hong Kong, Morocco,
Jordan … even Costa Rica. We dreamt of showing our
guests such a magical and historic place chosen for
our special day.
“We love Zamalek and the Nile so to be able to stage
our wedding there was more than perfect!”
Nada and Mohamed’s dream wedding celebrations
began in Salon Royal then moved to the magical
Eugenie Salon … a room and a name associated
with the extraordinary history of the Marriott’s
Gezira Palace, where royalty, aristocrats and
nobles danced and dined nearly 150 years ago.
Salon Royal, which served as the original entrance
for the historic Palace, also takes guests back in
time to an era of elegance in 19
th
century Egypt,
with a marble staircase, antique mirrors, artwork
and chandeliers.
Eugenie Salon, on the ground floor of the Palace, is an exquisite and
exclusive venue that originally served as the dining room for Empress
Eugenie when she was invited to Cairo for the opening of the Suez
Canal by the Palace’s founder Khedive Ismail. It was the perfect venue
for a royal reception in 1869 and today it provides perfection for an
unforgettable wedding.
Nada praised the Cairo Marriott’s wedding planners. “They not
only arranged everything I asked for, they also came up with more
suggestions that I loved. Just perfect!”

Nada sought the helpofMohamed –her cousin’sgood friend - toget her
an internship inNewYork to complete herColumbiaUniversity’sMaster’s
program. In theirbriefencounter,Mohamed likedNada (a lot!) -butnot
enough to securean internship for her..!Nada had to leaveNewYorkand
flewback toEgyptafter hergreatestdisappointment…
AfterEgypt’s2011Revolution,Mohamed calledupNadaononeof his
stops inEgypt to “discuss the investment sector future inEgypt”

LateFebruary2013,Mohamed andNadawerebothon
business trips inDubai.They rekindled their friendshipover
somegreen tea,Lebanese cuisine, andfineArgentinian steak
Inefforts to see hermore,Mohamedmadeuseof the chance thatNada’s
same cousin, his close friend, isalso inCairo the same time hewas.
Theyboth called her toarrange fora “group”outingwhere theyenjoyeda
nicedinneroverlooking theNile
Luckwasat this couple’s side.Orwas itallmeant tobe?Again, theyboth
happened tobe inLondononbusiness tripsat the same time.Nada’s
cousin (yes, the sameone),who lives there,managed tobring the couple
together inmore thanoneoccasion.
One lateRamadannight,everyonewaswaiting for sunrise to start their
fasting,playing somepopularEgyptian cardsgame,Mohamed fell head
over heels for thegreen-eyedgirl...
Nada isback inNewYorkon vacationwith her friendsafter
three hard yearsofbeingapart...
Itwaswhen her friends left twodaysbefore shedid, that
NadaandMohamed finallygot sometime tomeetalone.
Andona very specialwalk, chatting theirway through100
blocks,Nada started to fall forMohamed…….
On thisday last year, the couplewenton their real firstdate (and
somanyother firsts).. Itwasonlynatural to choose their first-date
anniversary to haveanother,evenmore specialnight…Wishing the
couplea happyanniversaryanda very happywedding!
OnoneuneventfulDay..Nadawent foraRamadan Iftar that she
thoughtwaswith her friends.FeelingemptywithoutMohamed in their
specialplaceover thebeautifulNile “Sequoia”…Allofa sudden she
was leftaloneon the table..Only tobe surprisedwith her favorite
person,downonone knee,with themostamazingengagement ring
one can see….
We’reallgathered here to celebrate thisamazing loving
