cairo’s art scene
T he year 2015 is kicking off with a very rich
season in Cairo’s fine art scene, with numerous
exhibitions for the works of some of the most
prominent art figures of the past few decades.
The majority of Egypt’s prestigious art galleries
are in the vicinity of Cairo Marriott Hotel, which gives
guests a perfect opportunity to experience Egypt’s world
of fine art firsthand.
The first quarter of 2015 will witness an exhibition of
Salah Abdel Karim’s astonishing art works starting on
January 22nd, followed by an exhibit for Marwa Adel
in March, both at Safarkhan Gallery. At Gallery Masr,
Karim Helmy’s exhibition will take place in January,
followed by an exhibit for the famous Ahmed Chiha
in February, then Islam Zaher in March. Right across
the street, Ubunto Art Gallery shows the works of
Yasser Rostom throughout January, followed by Refki
El Razzaz’s masterpieces on display in February, and
later an exhibition for Sahar El Amir starting in March.
Zamalek Art Gallery will be opening two parallel
exhibitions on January 11th, one for the famous Gamal
El Sagini, and the other for Artist Souad Mardam
Bey titled “Playing With No Toys”, followed by an
exhibition of the sculptures of Mostafa Abdel Moity
throughout February. Picasso Art Gallery is also
hosting several key exhibitions, starting with Effat
Hosny on January 8th, followed by Helmy El Touny
on February 20th, with another stunning exhibition
