Eliminating World Hunger: The Cairo Marriott Hosts Global
Dinner for Sustainable Food System

worldeconomic forum’s annualmeeting inDavos,
Switzerland. This year, partners are joining in
remotely toexpand theconversation throughout the
worldwithadvocacydinners. Cairohasbeen selected
tohost thedinner for theMiddleEast region.
Tohost thedinner, TheCairoMarriottHotel joined
theglobal communityonJanuary 12

in support of
the sustainabledevelopment goals set by the2030
UnitedNations agenda;which focusesoneliminating
worldhunger andmalnutrition. Thehotel partnered
upwithMBCMasr andMBCAl Amalwithhigh-
profilecelebrities andhumanitarians inattendance
to support theglobal cause. Theeventwasperfectly
in linewithMarriott’s “Spirit toServe” initiative to
enhance the livesof thecommunitieswe live inas
well as theentireplanet.
ThedinnerwasheldatAidaBallroom featuringChef
Hassan’sdelicious recipiesmadewithEgypt’smain
food staples: fresh fruit, beans andbread. Actress
HendSabrygavean inspiringand informative speech
about theneed to secure foodandendhunger in
our communities aswell as theworld. Attendees
werenot only informedabout the issuebutwere
introduced tohow theycanactivelyparticipateand
donate.
HendSabry, theWFPAmbassador, took the stage
toannounce the launchof a socialmediacampaign
through thepartnershipbetweenWFPandMBCAl
Amal.
Thecampaign,whichbegan twoweeksprior to the
event andcontinued for another twoweeks following
it, aims tomaximize theoutreachof theWFP’s
regional programs, inaddition tocollectingdonations
through theaforementioned forms.
