16 MA R R I O T T I N T E R N AT I ON A L In his second visit to Egypt in the role of President and CEO of Marriott International, the associate teams of Cairo’s two flagship Marriott properties had the pleasure of welcoming Arne Sorenson to these magnificently appointed ex-palatial grounds. Sorenson greeted the welcoming teams that were assembled for his visit with a noticeable personal touch, assuring them of his appreciation for the unending comprehensive efforts being made towards ensuring guests experience the brilliant brand experience in these two jewel properties that are consistent and befitting with the Marriott’s global reputation. Upon his arrival at the Cairo Marriott, Sorenson was greeted and escorted on a personal tour around the palace by hotel General Manager, Khaled Al Jamal, flanked by members of his senior management team. Sorenson strolled amongst the lush greenery of the famed garden promenade, and inspected some of the hotel’s newly renovated rooms as he passed through the Aida ballroom. Sorenson then stepped into central balcony overlooking the palatial grounds to deliver his vision on the future of tourism in Egypt in a short, recorded video message. Sorenson remarked that “this place is filled with optimism, you’ve got people enjoying the great Egyptian hospitality, the great Marriott hospitality - the garden’s behind me are filled with life.” During his stay at the Cairo Marriott, the President and CEO met with the Minister of Tourism, Dr. Rania President and CEO of Marriott International, Arne Sorenson, visits Egypt’s two historic Marriott palaces,
