3 A WO R D F R OM T H E G E N E R A L MA N A G E R Happy Eid and Warm Greetings for the Summer Season Dear Guests, After a joyous Ramadan filled with family, charity and blessings I would like to extend to all of our dear Cairo Marriott family, guests and associates alike, my warmest wishes for a happy Eid and fun-filled summer. We now look forward to the much anticipated Eid celebrations, which the Cairo Marriott’s various restaurants and lounges will serve as wonderful locations in which to spend some quality time with those you love most. This latest issue of Buzz explores, in a nod to the timeless legacy of this place, the intertwined histories of the Cairo Marriott and Marriott Mena House and their rich pasts. A cursory glance through the histories of these ex-palatial grounds reveals tales of royalty, war, intrepid explorers, accomplished artisans, international geopolitics and the beauty of Egypt’s eventful and charming past. We are also extremely proud of the various charitable initiatives that the Cairo Marriott has played an integral role in, whether through sponsoring, catering or hosting a variety of events for philanthropic causes. These include the immensely successful Ahl Masr Omar Kamal concert held at the Giza Pyramids, and share the meal Iftar with MBC Hope and World Food Program, an integral part of the Marriott’s global outreach in serving the communities in which we operate by pledging to nurture, empower, sustain and welcome them. We also are pleased to announce our widely popular and growing internal initiative, the Associates Emergency Relief Fund. This fund was established with the vital aim of serving the urgent medical needs of the Cairo Marriott associates’ immediate family members - giving them much-needed recourse to monetary and medical assistance in dire times, because we value our associates’ loved ones as our own. Finally, since we exist for hospitality of the highest standards and in its various forms, we give readers a closer look at our impeccable Front Office Team - whose purpose is to make your stay both personalized and unforgettable - and their various obligations and occupations. We also offer a preview of our new Unified Loyalty Rewards Program, which promises to be a comprehensive revamp of our loyalty programs and the broad array of dedicated services, benefits and promotional offers that our valued guests will now have unprecedented access to. Furthermore, our associates are the essential key that ensures Marriott hospitality is an experience second to none, and we have consequently acknowledged their tireless efforts through our fun-filled Associate Appreciation Week. Last but certainly not least, we remark on Egypt’s historic World Cup qualification, and the promise of ‘Egyptian King’ Mohammed Salah and his mighty pharaohs as they and legions of devoted Egyptian fans descend on Russia to kick off a long-awaited summer of football, fun and sun.
