MARRIOTT BUZZ NO. 13 - 2018
17 island settings, ski-in/ski-out mountain resorts, towering hotels with picture-worthy views or even former palaces converted into hotels’ - the Cairo Marriott’s very own special setting. Loyalty members have always been ‘our most important customers’, said Karin Timpone, Global Marketing Officer of Marriott International. Timpone also maintained that Marriott International will be ‘continuing to introduce more exclusive member experiences throughout the year on our Moments platforms’. Members will now have the ability to earn elevated benefits and elite status faster with the new tiers. Earn Silver Elite status after just ten nights and Gold Elite status after just 25 nights, while Platinum elite status can be achieved after 50 nights and Platinum Premier elite status after 75 nights. Platinum Premier members that surpass 100 nights of stay and $20,000 of spend will enjoy the benefits of the renowned ambassador program. Members who have achieved Lifetime status will continue to have their status recognized and upheld. Also, a single points currency will be adopted, meaning that when members combine their accounts from August, their points balance will triple, and they will now earn ten points for every dollar spent. With these new regulations, elite members will earn much more for their stays, and also new to the program is the points earning instituted for food and beverage purchases and other qualifying incidentals, rather than just the room rate, making the program not only more beneficial, but also more personalized. The unified loyalty program will also make it easier for members to redeem points, with all hotels throughout the loyalty portfolio having no blackout dates for point redemptions. Members will enjoy a significantly improved digital and mobile experience as well as members-only rates when booking directly on Marriott.com, SPG.com or any of Marriott’s mobile apps, by choosing amongst 6,500 participating hotels. Marriott’s greatly expanded experiential offerings on Moments can now be purchased with cash and do not require a hotel reservation. Members will earn points each time they purchase one of these exciting new experiences. Marriott International can announce with pleasure that 110,000 new Moments experiences across 1,000 destinations have now been added to this program on top of the existing 8,000 exclusive, member experiences. In the future, all Moments experiences will be available to be redeemed with points. The Moments experiential platform is expanding rapidly, with more than 110,000 experiences in 1,000 destinations from must-see attraction tickets and tours for purchase with cash by all guests, to once-in-a-lifetime special events made exclusively available to members. Customers can now enjoy amazing adventures like destination tours and day trips including shark cage diving in Gansbaai, South Africa, to once-in-a-lifetime events like exclusive member concerts, VIP experiences, coveted sports events music festivals, as well as hands- on master classes, and meet & greets with some of the world’s top athletes, chefs and musicians like Jared Leto, Daniel Boulud and Lewis Hamilton. Marriott will also in conjunction launch Moments Live, a collection of premier musical and culinary events powered by Marriott’s partnership with Universal Music Group and LITV Entertainment Group. Marriott will be providing members with information about how and when in August they can begin combining their loyalty accounts. The information above represents a summary of the upcoming changes to Marriott’s award-winning loyalty programs and is subject to the full terms and conditions of the programs that will be available to the public at the time the changes become effective.
