13 This kind of internal philanthropic fund was the initiative of the General Manager of the hotel, Khaled Al Jamal, who along with various other executive committee members of the hotel made a concerted effort towards creating a relief fund for extenuating financial circumstances related to health emergencies. This hugely impactful initiative was developed with the aim of adhering to the hotel’s company policy of giving back to the community, and by beginning this outreach with our internal family, we are setting an important precedent that will in future be enacted towards other members of the broader community we serve. Until now the fund has addressed associates’ family issues related but not limited to; heart complications, eye surgery, children’s health and general health emergencies. It is intended to serve as an ever-present fund, accessible to associates of all ranks and denominations of the hotel in the event of a medical emergency to members of their immediate family. This was developed with the goal to address the critical concern of many employees, who are all beneficiaries of full medical coverage by the hotel according to company policy, to have their family members taken care of in a similar fashion, should they fall victim to a situation where they require urgent, and as often is the case, expensive medical care. The Cairo Marriott is extremely proud of this internal effort to help support the Marriott family and their loved ones when circumstances outside of their control or financial means impacts their lives and those of their families. It is therefore with great pride and humility that the hotel administration will continue to strengthen this initiative further by kindly requesting members of the Cairo Marriott family to contribute any nominal amount they may volunteer (from their salary or otherwise) in order to assist with the maintenance and growth of this hugely beneficial and much-needed program. The integrity of this program is predicated on the existence of a dedicated board of trustees that serves as an adjudication panel to approve the disbursement of money that can be withdrawn from the fund, which guarantees it as a credible, efficient and sustainable model. WE ARE NOW ALSO INVITING HOTEL GUESTS WITH A CHARITABLE HEART TO CONSIDER DONATING TO THIS PROGRAM, AND ALL OF OUR RESPECTED AND VALUED GUESTS ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS REWARDING EXPERIENCE IN THE SPIRIT OF GIVING. UNTIL NOW, THE PROGRAM HAS POSITIVELY IMPACTED THE LIVES OF OUR CAIRO MARRIOTT FAMILY AND THEIR FAMILIES BY PROVIDING THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO COMPLETE 15 EMERGENCY RELIEF CASES, AND WE ARE ENTIRELY HOPEFUL AND OPTIMISTIC THAT THIS NUMBER WILL SEE A WELCOME BOOST AS WE TRY AND EXTEND A HELPING HAND TO THOSE WHO NEED IT THE MOST.
