A WORD FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
Hello
Wonderful
Egypt!
Iwould like to take thisopportunity
to sharewithyouhowexcited I
am tobe inCairo. Themagnificent
countrywithunrivaled stories; not
just of thePharaohsbut of every
Egyptianday. Startingoff at anew
destination is challenging, but the
warmthand friendliness I have
received themoment I havearrived
at theairportwas thedefinition
of hospitality.Not tomention
mycolleagueswhowerevery
welcomingand sharedwithmeall
themarvelous storiesbehind the
Palacewhich I findprettyamazing!
Although this ismyfirst time in
Egypt, I already feel at home.
In this issueof Buzz,wehaveput
together a large sectiondedicated
toour fantasticpromotions
throughout the last threemonthsof
theyear. FromHalloween toNYE,
we’vegot youcoveredwithgreat
events andpromotions! And if you
didn’t know the real storybehind
Halloween, flip thepages and read
the storyof how it becameoneof
themost popular celebration in the
world. Another tale that couldbeof
interest (and inspire somecostume
ideas) is thehistoryofDowntown
Cairoandhow it all startedwith
Khedive Ismail.Ona similar note, the
NewSuezCanal celebrations took
guests through thepast andpresent
withgreat activities. Another reason
tocelebrate is the launchof our
Meetings Imaginedconcept that
will completelychange thewayyou
planyour events. And speakingof
events, CairoMarriott hostedan
event incooperationwith “Together”
foundationandMohamedSobhy so
be sure tocheck that andpossibly
evenhelpout!Wealsohad the
pleasureof hosting the legendary
YanniwhoperformedThe “Dream
Concert” at thegreat pyramids for
thefirst time.
Finally, I hope that youenjoy the
interviewconductedwithme for
being thenewGeneralManager. I
couldn’t bemoreexcited to start
anewchapter inmy story in such
ahistorically richcountryand
hopefullyadd toyour experience
whenever you’revisiting theCairo
Marriott. To thepast,maywe
forever learn fromyouand to the
future,maywealwaysmeet you
withhopeandhappiness. Here’s toa
