MARRIOTT BUZZ NO. 16 - 2019

3 A WO R D F R OM T H E HO T E L MA N A G E R Warm Greetings as we Fall into the New Season Dear Guests, As we recover from another sweltering summer of sea, sun and fun, we at the Cairo Marriott Hotel and Omar Khayyam Casino are prepared and ever-eager as we move into autumn and closer to the end of 2019 which has thus far been an eventful and exhilarating year even by our own exciting standards. As we head into the final quarter of 2019, Marriott Buzz has a glut of new material and information to share with you all regarding both internal and external affairs that have made the prior period one in which we hope to live up to in terms of its enjoyment and achievements. This edition of Buzz features three in-depth interviews, firstly with our new chef who will be heading the kitchen at our Japanese restaurant Torii. Chef John comes with a wealth of firsthand experience having trained in the land of sushi itself under renowned masters of Japanese cuisine. We also take a look at the Cairo Marriott’s ever-busy bellmen team, who are a vital organ in our team of hosts that make the day-to-day running of the hotel as smooth, seamless and pleasurable as possible for our beloved guests. Finally, we have a special sit-down with daughters of acclaimed jeweler Azza Fahmy, whose sister-act duo Amina and Fatma Ghali, are each heading the commercial and design parts of the brand and taking it to new heights. Our history section explores the intrigue and artistic composition and design of some of the hotel’s most ornate antiques, this time in the form of fountains and chandeliers, which adorn the floors and ceilings of the hotel’s sprawling palatial grounds. We also delve into the much-anticipated selection of art exhibitions in our Arts and Culture section. This autumn sees most of Zamalek’s premier galleries kick off their new seasons, including Safarkhan’s first-ever female collective featuring four emerging young talents in a show that is bound to inspire. No season or quarter is complete without the abundance of charitable deeds and commitments we at the Cairo Marriott pride ourselves upon. This previous period was no different and saw more philanthropic outreach from our team of hosts. Our companywide Serve 360 initiative was again honored in our participation in the annual Road to Awareness cycling event dedicated to raising funds for Dar Al Sondos Orphanage. We also celebrated our Associate Appreciation Week aimed at thanking our dedicated family of associates with our annual week of team-building, games and fine food; another great success. Additionally, we recount our various summer promotional efforts like the African Cup of Nations hosted in Egypt, as well as a special Marriott Bonvoy Sohour. Finally, our summer promotional effort was centered on the Marriott Bonvoy travel program and the world of opportunity it unlocks for guests worldwide.
