Dear Guests, As we look forward to the delights of the festive season, I would like to extend to all of our dear Cairo Marriott family, guests and associates alike, my warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. As we look forward to the abundance of festivities in this celebratory time of year, here at the Cairo Marriott we are striving as always to provide a uniquely special location and atmosphere in which to spend in the company of loved ones and we have outlined the exciting schedule of our holiday season program. This latest issue of Buzz looks into a variety of interesting topics, both internal and external to the Cairo Marriott. Amongst the noteworthy features of this edition is an illuminating in-depth interview with PhD student Katrin Kaufmann and Professor Francine Giese from the University of Zurich. Kaufmann and Giese - specialists in the revival of Moorish architecture of Al-Andalus - visited our hotel as part of their extensive research on the influence of German architect Carl von Diebitsch, one of the principal architects instrumental in conceiving the design and composition of this most famous of our palatial grounds. The Marriott Hotels in Egypt were proud to come together to show gratitude to our valued guests as part of Marriott’s annual Global Customer Appreciation Week in another fun-filled itinerary of specially curated activities and events. We are also pleased to introduce improvements to our overall service provisions, firstly with the complete revamp of our new Arabic website, now providing seamless end-to-end booking experience fully in Arabic. Additionally, we have reminded readers and guests that the unification of loyalty programs amongst Marriott International’s chief member brands was launched in August and is now finally in full effect for guests to take advantage of. We also touch upon the addition of both Marriott properties in Egypt, the Cairo Marriott and Marriott Mena House, to our unparalleled Moments platform with special unprecedented offers of exceptional experiences for Marriott Rewards members. There is also a special feature on the Cairo Marriott becoming the first hotel in Egypt to rollout Beachill mattresses, the winner of Marriott International’s TestBED entrepreneurship and startup competition. Moreover, this edition features another in-depth interview with our new Executive Chef Stephen McGarrie, an accomplished Master Chef who joins us with over 25 years of globetrotting experience having worked at and with some of the most renowned names in the field of gastronomy. We also recount the fruitful visit of our President and CEO Arne Sorenson, who on his second trip to Egypt toured both the Cairo Marriott and Marriott Mena House and held significant meetings with the Ministers of Tourism and Public Enterprise. Finally, with hospitality as our highest priority, we introduce Marriott spearheading of the Tahseen hospitality educational program, underscoring our undying commitment to improving the standards of tourism and hospitality markets in Egypt, in collaboration with Helwan University and Professional Development Foundation.
